Dance Darwin Dance!

August 5, 2017

Everybody NOW! hits the dance floor as part of the 2017 Darwin Festival

After a hit premiere season at the 2016 Brisbane Festival, You Should Be Dancing is two-stepping and twerking its way north as part of the 2017 Darwin Festival. From bootscooters to Latino kings and queens, hip hop heavies to the exponents of the first, ancient steps in this country, hundreds of Darwin’s dancing legends are asking you to join them on the dance floor – and they won’t take no for an answer!

Over three huge nights, diverse local community and dancing groups will share some of Darwin’s rich culture and dazzling dance history. We are totally delighted to be getting a little bit tropical for this special Darwin season of You Should Be Dancing.

In addition to the stella line up of local dancers, community groups and dance instructors involved, You Should Be Dancing stars our Dance Captain deluxe, Bec Reid, our dear friend and charming emcee Tristan Meecham, our very own queen of the decks, Disco DJ Diva Nadia Sunde and the Solid Bronze Dancers, Jessica Devereux and Michael 'Triki' Trikolaris, so solid, so bronze!

Our bags are packed and rest assured there's a lot of glitter involved. We're so looking forward to storming the floor, well.... the park, on Friday 11, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 August at the Sunset Stage, Festival Park.

Oh, and as special treat for us all, we will be performing a You Should Be Dancing MINIS at Darwin Festival's famous Teddy Bears' Picnic on Sunday 13 August.

No experience necessary, just loads of enthusiasm! Everybody is a dancing star at You Should Be Dancing Darwin.

Check out the Darwin Festival website for more info and to check out the whole program - it's amazing!
